He has been working at the Politecnico of Bari with the support of the TANGO research project (2004). He implemnted the 2.4 and 2.6 Linux kernel later accepted in the offcial kernel 2.6 Linux and backported to 2.4.
He has worked on the first implementation of Westwood+ TCP in the Linux kernel 2.2.

Vittorio Palmisano has graduated in Computer Science Engineering in 2006 (Politecnico di Bari) magna cum laude. He has been working at the Politecnico of Bari on the research theme: "Analysis of advanced congestion control techniques on Internet".

His main research interests are: rate based congestion control over UDP/IP stacks, multimedia streaming audio/video application, adaptive (FGS) video codecs, P2P overlay networks for end-user multicasting.
